Healthy eating means eating a wide variety of foods in the right proportions. Consuming the right amount of food and drink will help you to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
The Eatwell Guide is a visual representation of how different foods and drinks contribute towards a healthy balanced diet.
The Eatwell Guide has five food groups. It shows how much of each food we should each from each food group to achieve a healthy, balanced diet. Although we do not need to achieve this balance with every meal, you should try to get the balance right over a day or a week.
It is important to remember to keep hydrated, aiming for at least 6-8 glasses of fluid a day. The thirst signals in the body are weaker than hunger, 37% of people mistake thirst for hunger.
