SMART Goals
Setting goals is important. They help you get to where you want to be and achieve what you want to achieve.
Long-term goals help you to focus on the big picture. They help you improve your health. They can help you reduced the risk of future health problems caused by your diabetes. They can shift your thinking from simply being on a diet to making sustainable lifestyle changes.
Long-term goals may seem difficult or too far away.
A good goal-setting strategy is the SMART goal checklist.
SMART goals are:
- Specific.
- Measurable.
- Attainable.
- Realistic.
- Time-bound.
You can use food and exercise diaries to help you make better goals. They can help you identify patterns in why and what you eat.
Keeping diaries helps you to reflect and feel inspired to keep making positive changes.
Remember that making small changes eventually add up to see huge positive results.
